Salary Range: $59,592.00- $98,321.60 (Placement within range depends on relevant experience)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM
Summary
The Fleet Manager Performs difficult technical work supervising and participating in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a variety of gasoline and diesel driven automotive and specialized equipment; does related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of purchased and leased vehicles & equipment in accordance with City’s approved budget and Capital Improvement Plan.
- Works with the Public Works Director and Finance Director or their designees to identify and optimize vehicle & equipment procurement options.
- Coordinates Vehicle/ Equipment replacement schedule for all Departments.
- Oversees the repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, tractors, construction, and other equipment.
- Oversees the keeping of an inventory of spare automotive parts and supplies.
- Oversees and inspects major repair, overhaul, and maintenance jobs on automotive equipment performed by City personnel.
- Prepares, submits, and implements annual Garage budgets.
- Supervises activities of the garage office, including keeping records on each automotive unit, preparing purchase orders and work orders.
- Evaluates, tests, and schedules replacement of Garage equipment.
- Develops, updates, and communicates a preventive maintenance program for City vehicles.
- Remains on call in case of emergency
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Three years of extensive experience with automotive and heavy equipment maintenance repair
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of automotive repair shop management.
- Thorough knowledge of the characteristics and maintenance needs of a wide variety of automotive and mechanical equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of shop operation.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines and/or the repair and maintenance characteristics of a variety of municipal automotive equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of business practices applicable to garage management.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of automotive mechanics.
Special requirements
- Possession of a Valid Driver's License
Job Related Physical Requirements
This position involves work requiring the employee to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and less force frequently to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may include the use of fingers and hands,
include kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Sufficient visual acuity is required to visually inspect small parts to detect defects; assemble parts at distances close to the eye; do extensive reading and accounting; and use measurement devices
Working Conditions
An employee in this position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions including vibrations and noise; subject to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, oils and cutting fluids; and subject to job hazards including exposure to moving mechanical parts.
This position is “exempt” and is not eligible for overtime pay.
