Salary Range: $41,491.01 - $68,470.27 (Placement within this range depends on relevant experience)
Closing Date: Wednesday July 5th 2023 at 5:00PM EST
Working Schedule: Monday – Friday 8AM – 5PM
Summary:
The Human Resources Technician performs a variety of technical and administrative activities in support of the City’s Human Resources function. Performs routine and moderately complex human resources duties. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Serves as the first point of contact and provides administrative support to department staff.
- Greets the customers in person or by telephone, schedules meetings, organizes, composes, types and distributes a variety of documents.
- Coordinates pre-employment process including scheduling interviews, drafting conditional offers, new hire paperwork and scheduling pre-employment screenings (background checks, drug screening, inquiries through the DOT Clearinghouse).
- Responsible for managing the performance management software, making changes, updating performance evaluators, running reports. Maintain and track employee performance evaluations and personnel action forms for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with city policies.
- Plans, coordinates, and assists with service award luncheon, annual Thanksgiving luncheon, veteran’s breakfast, and employee appreciation picnic.
- Format, update and maintain Human Resource forms and documents assuring compliance with the city branding policies.
- Coordinates training events, meetings and CDL/DOT and random drug testing.
- Processes yearly purchase orders and requisitions.
- Completes Special projects assigned by the Human Resources Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED and
- Three (3) years Human Resources experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion and maintain the confidentiality of personnel records and discussions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to schedule appointments and meetings based on specific oral or written guidelines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to gather and give basic information and instructions on departmental programs based on inquiries.
- Ability to be tactful and courteous.
- Ability to operate any office machines required by the position such as word processor, xerox machine, calculator, and other office equipment and Microsoft (excel and word).
- Ability to arrange and place records, reports, and files into proper sequence.
Job Related Physical Requirements:
This position involves sedentary work requiring the employee to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and less force frequently to move objects. Physical activity related to this position includes the use of fingers and hands, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Sufficient visual acuity is required to prepare and analyze data and figures, do extensive reading, and use a computer terminal.

An employee in this position will not be substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
