Work Schedule - Monday - Friday 7AM - 3:30PM
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs responsible semi-skilled work in a variety of construction, maintenance and repair assignments involving the use of specialized tools and equipment; does related work as required.
Work is performed under regular supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Some knowledge of construction, maintenance and repair tasks; some knowledge in the use of common hand and power tools required in the work; ability to perform manual labor for extended period, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Possession of a valid NC Driver's License.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school and some experience in maintenance, repair and/or construction work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
This position is “non-exempt” and is eligible for overtime pay.

- Maintains and cleans equipment as directed;
- Performs a variety of heavy manual work in connection with departmental operations;
- May operate mower, weed eater, chain saw and/or other powered equipment in roadway, power line, water, sewer rights of way or grounds maintenance;
- Work on assigned crew;
- Use and know hand tools for various assignments;
- Perform limited building maintenance, i.e, painting, simple carpentry and masonry tasks;
- Loads and unloads work materials, supplies and equipment;
- Trims, plants, removes trees, shrubs, flowers, bulbs, etc.,
- Follows all safety policies and procedures;
- Must be able to read, write and carry out verbal instructions;
- Performs other related tasks.
